IEA is the Interscholactic Equestrian Association. Open to middle school and high school students (6th-12th grade), it is a more cost effective and fair way of showing. Each team hosts at least one show a competition year. They are responsible for providing the horses, tack, and location. When you arrive at the competition, you draw a horse and this will be the horse you compete on. If you have an over fences and a flat class, you will draw two horses. IEA is a great way to experience a broad range of horses, as you generally have a different group of horses for each show. It is a lot of fun and and really makes riding a team sport. Riders are required to participant in 2 team practices a month, as well as weekly lessons. They are allowed a maximum of 5 shows a competition season.
